The Rotary Club of Calicut City was chartered on 29th June2016. with Rtn.Udayabhanu CM as the charter President and Rtn Baburaj as the secretary, With Rotary Central being the Mother Club, then under the leadership of Rtn.Lakshman, the President and Rtn Deepak Nair in the role of Secretary. The installation cermony was inaugurated by PDG Vallabhdas and District Governor Rtn MD Sreedharan Nambiar.
Over the years, the Club has had exemplary performances and bagged 9 district awards at the charter year District Awards ceremony. Past many service projects and one unique medical clinic at west hill poor home still fresh and running.
The Club is blessed to have the vibrant presence of its charter members to date. Rtn Manikandan passed onthe Presidential baton and in his role, the Club has had exponentail growth in membership and service project. Among some major achievements the club bagged many district awards. and Rtn. Sreekumar was awarded the Best Outstading secretary of District 3202.
Rtn Anoop was appointed the third president of the Club. Its formidable to note that respected former Justice R Basanth was the chief guest of two prestigious functions of the club. Friendship and fellowship developing activites and programs made it the most friendly atmosphere the club could ever achieve.
Charter secretary Rtn Baburaj assumed the role of Club President the following year , making him the 4th president of the club. He led the club without any lapse in weekly meeting along witht he highest number of speaker Meeting conducted, making it a perfect recored under his leadership even if it took him 100 kms of travel back and forth to attend every meeting. Even after the premature resignation of the 5th President of the Club Rtn.Baburaj filled te role without any hestation and Club recognzes and respect these efforts tremedously
The Club did One Lakh worth of service project at Calicut Medical College Cancer OP whichwas inaugurated by District Governor Arulyothi Karthikeyan, followed by participating and donating to the "One Crore Rotary ICU" project at Calicut Medical College. initiated by MD Dr..Rajesh Subash Charter Presdet of th Club, Rtn PHF Udayabhanu CM was nominated as the Assistant Governor of District 3202 as a result of the presence and performance of Rotary Club of Calicut City in District 3202.
The 6th President of the Club a young presence Rtn. Vi[in Nambiar led the Club actitivies in the difficult times of the Covid Pandamic. The Club contributed to the "Oxygen For All" project at Beach Hospital Calicut, Overall. the Onam celebration and Kannur touro Pprogrme was made everr memorable.
The Presidentcy is now being handed over to Rtn. Jayaprasanth Babu, making him the seventh President of the Club on 16th July 2021 in virtual installation.
